363. Accept The Bitter With The Sweet

Revelation 6-11

And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.     And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.   Revelation 10:9-10

There are some things in the Bible that are sweet to read but leave a bitter feeling in your belly. Things that God convicts you on that need to be changed in your life. The fellowship with the Lord is sweet but sometimes the lessons learned aren't so much. When God brings to light things in your life that need changed, do you obey? Will you swallow all of God's word knowing that conviction will come? Are you willing to change whatever it is that God wants you to change so that you may be more like Him?

72. God Does All Things For Our Good

Deuteronomy 5-7 O that there were such an hear in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, and it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!    Deuteronomy 5:29 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.    Deuteronomy 6:24 God made it clear, and the children of Israel understood that all the commandments that God had given them were for their good and because God loved them. When there are things that God convicts you of, or rules applicable to you from His word, what is your response? Do you understand that He loves you and wants only the best for you? Or do you choose to think He doesn't know what He's doing and wants to keep you from having fun or enjoying life?
