I'm Just A Common Sparrow
I'm Just A Common Sparrow by Ruth Navis
I'm just a common sparrow; not much value, little worth.
I'm just a common sparrow; not much purpose on this earth.
I'm just a common sparrow; people like to mock and scorn,
With a brain no bigger than a pea from the day that I was born.
I'm just a common sparrow people kill for sport, for fun.
I have no great beauty, I am just dull shades of brown.
I asked: "Lord, what's my purpose? I'm not smart or beautiful.
I'm so small, I'm of no use at all,
I'm just mocked by all the people."
He said: "I made you little sparrow. I watch you when you fall.
I care not if you're beautiful or not so smart, or small.
I love you little sparrow, and I care for you, you see.
For while others think you're nothing at all,
You're great and special to me."
