21. Make The Lord Your God

Genesis 27-29 

And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me. Genesis 27:20 

Jacob recognized God as Isaac’s God. He hadn't made him his God and only promised later to make God his God if He would keep him safe and provide for him and bring him back to his father’s house in peace. Is God your God? Do you choose to make Him your God or only conditionally make Him your God?

2 Kings 15, 2 Chronicles 26 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.     And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.   2 Chronicles 26:4-5 Do you want to prosper? So many people turn to money, jobs, and anything they can to become prosperous. But they also have a different definition of what prospering is. What do you think of as being prosperous? Is being prosperous having plenty of money? Or having lots of things? Is it in having a lot of friends or being held in high esteem by those around you? According to the Strongs Concordance, to prosper is to push forward. And the only reason to be prosperous or push forward is God. What would it take for God to make you prosperous? Luke 22, John 13 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:   But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.   Luke 22:31-32 As with Peter, so Satan desires to distract and destroy you so that you will be useless for God and eventually deny Him. The temptation is sometimes very great to deny Christ in order to avoid mocking or ridicule, or persecution of any kind. Or just not to be thought of as weird or strange. But, just as Jesus prayed for Peter, so also He prays for us.
