36. Standards Are Important To Keep Us From Sinning
Exodus 19-21
And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death: There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount. Exodus 19:12-13
God told Moses that the people were not to touch the mount or else they would be put to death. To make sure they followed that command, God had Moses set up boundaries to be sure that they wouldn't disobey. God's word is filled with instructions and commands for us to follow today. To be sure that we don't cross the line into sin, we have boundaries, or as they're more commonly known standards, that we set in place to keep us safe from accidentally breaking God's commands. While God doesn't always punish with physical death, if you don't safeguard yourself and start falling into sin, your spiritual life and your relationship with God will suffer and ultimately die if you do not turn back to Him. What standards will you set in place and uphold to best obey and honor God and keep a right heart before Him?
