56. Put It Out Of The Camp

Numbers 5-6

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,     Command the children of Israel, that they put out of the camp every leper, and every one that hath an issue, and whosoever is defiled by the dead:     Both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they defile not their camps, in the midst whereof I dwell.   Numbers 5:1-3

When someone was defiled, they had to be separated from others so as not to defile them or the place where they and the Lord dwelt. What about us today? We don't have all the same laws of defilement and separation, but there is one thing that can defile us and cause us to defile the place where God lives, and that is sin. If you have sin in your life, it will hurt you and the Lord because the Holy Spirit lives inside of you. It also has the possibility to hurt others in your life as well if not dealt with right away. When sin tries to take hold in your life, what is your response? Do you allow it to fester and hurt yourself, those around you, and the God who lives inside you? Or will you throw it out of the camp so no one will be defiled?
