75. Base Your Answers And Decisions On The Truth

Deuteronomy 14-16

Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.                Deuteronomy 16:19

The children of Israel were instructed to set up judges in their gates but with these parameters as to how they were to judge. You may not be an official judge in the court system but how often do you make judgment calls? Whether they are about a person by observation or if a decision is brought to you. How do you make your decisions in tough situations? Especially if it's between two people such as solving a problem or even voting in the elections. Do you wrest, or twist, or judgment based on your feelings, or whether or not you like the people involved? Do you allow gifts to sway your thinking? No matter how wise or righteous you may be, a gift is able to blind and pervert your wisdom and righteousness so that you don't answer according to the truth. Any time you are faced with a question or a decision, you need to go to the word of God and base your answers on the truth. Can others trust you to do what's right and always give them the truth when talking to you?
