86. Don’t Wait To Claim What God Has Given You

Joshua 16-18

And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?   Joshua 18:3

Some of the children complained about not having enough room to live. Joshua told them to cut down the woods, destroy the people and claim another part of land for themselves if they wanted to which they made excuses. They had the available resources and the ability to get what they needed, but they were too lazy to get it themselves. God had already promised it to them, they just had to do the work to go claim it. How many times do you have a similar train of thought? You want to know God more, you want to claim His promises and teach others His word, you want to study and spend more time with Him. You have the ability and resources necessary but will you put in the work it takes to achieve those things? God already promised you could know as much about Him and spend as much time with Him as you want, but will you do it? Will you prioritize God and His word over your goals and accomplishments? If you want knowledge and wisdom, if you want God, it's there for the taking and the discovering, you just need to prioritize the possession of it over the possession of material things and your personal goals. So often we fit our time with God around our day, thinking I would love to do this, or study that, but I have so much stuff to do, I don't have time for that right now. But what should be happening is that God's word takes precedence and our day is planned around God's word. You need to make time for the learning and studying of God's word and get to the less important things, if you have time.
