107. Don’t Seek For Revenge

 1 Samuel 25-27

And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me:     And blessed be thy advice and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.                                1 Samuel 25:32-33

Nabal was a wicked man and by our human reasoning, David had every right to kill Nabal for the treatment of David's men and God. But Abigail interceded for Nabal and David knowing that it is God that is in charge of revenge and not man no matter how justified they may be. What is your attitude towards those who have done you wrong? Do you try and get revenge or will you choose to leave them in God's hands and let God take care of the problem as He sees fit? Just because others hurt you and are legitimately in the wrong doesn't give you the right to avenge yourself and treat them wrongly. God is the one who will defend and avenge you if He wants it to happen. You can trust God with your heart and your feelings knowing that He will take care of you no matter what others may do or say. Your job is to trust God and to keep loving others just as He would without reserve or hard feelings even if they never choose to love you back.
