117. Music Is A Ministry
1 Chronicles 6
And these are they whom David set over the service of
song in the house of the LORD, after that the ark had rest. And they ministered before the dwelling
place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had
built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem: and then they waited on their office
according to their order. 1 Chronicles
6:31-32
Music is important to God. It has always been incorporated
into the worship in God's house. It came before the main service, or in the Old
Testament, the offerings, and it was considered it's own service. Today we have
a song service before we hear the message that God has given our Pastor and it
is often considered as inferior to the message but it is equally as important
to God. It sets the tone of the service and it gives us time to meditate on the
words in worship to God. Music speaks in a way that words sometimes cannot.
That is why it is important to be careful what music you allow to influence you.
You can also use good music to minister to others. Music can be so soothing to
a weary soul or heavy heart. And it brings pleasure to God when you sing to
Him. It is as a sweet smelling sacrifice if done right, with the right heart
and attitude. God wants to hear you sing. Will you bless Him and others with
the music that you choose?
