99. Trust God For Victory

1 Samuel 4-8

And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel.            1 Samuel 7:10

The Philistines were a problem for Israel because Israel once again had turned to other gods. When they realized that they could not defeat the Philistines they went to Samuel for help and they fasted and prayed and asked God for the victory and Samuel offered a burnt offering. It was then that God thundered from heaven and gave them the victory. Who do you go to for victory in your life? You have three enemies: The world, the flesh, and the devil. You cannot overcome any of those in your own strength but God is bigger than yourself and all those. Do you depend on God for victory over your sin and struggles? Do you struggle through trying to be and do better? Only God can get the victory in your life if you surrender to Him and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Will you trust Him for the victory in your life?

72. God Does All Things For Our Good

Deuteronomy 5-7 O that there were such an hear in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, and it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!    Deuteronomy 5:29 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.    Deuteronomy 6:24 God made it clear, and the children of Israel understood that all the commandments that God had given them were for their good and because God loved them. When there are things that God convicts you of, or rules applicable to you from His word, what is your response? Do you understand that He loves you and wants only the best for you? Or do you choose to think He doesn't know what He's doing and wants to keep you from having fun or enjoying life? True repentance?
