144. Man’s Help Is Vain

Psalm 108-110

Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.     Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.   Psalm 108:12-13

Vain: in the sense of desolating; evil (as destructive), literally (ruin) or morally (especially guile); figuratively idolatry (as false, subjectively), uselessness (as deceptive, objectively; also adverbially in vain). Woah. That's a pretty serious description of what the help of man is according to the Strongs concordance. Why then do we put so much energy and time into researching the latest diet trend, psychology study, and etc.? Are you always searching for the latest and greatest self help book? The best self help book you could ever read is the Bible. The only one that knows science and biology like no one else is God, the creator of all things! He knows you and your specific needs and He knows how our bodies are supposed to work. He knows what you need and He knows science better than any scientist because He created everything! It is God that gives us help from trouble and through God that we shall do valiantly because He is the one that will tread down our enemies, even when your biggest enemy is yourself. You need to seek first the kingdom of God. He has given you all the answers to life in His word! Why not go to God in your troubles?
