170. Wisdom Is Good But Christ Is The Goal

Ecclesiastes 1-6

The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all.     Then said I in my heart, as it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity.     For there is no remembrance of the wise more than the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool.   Ecclesiastes 2:14-16

Wise men can see where they're going and what they are doing while fools walk in darkness. But just because you have the choice to make wise decisions or foolish decisions, there are circumstances that are beyond human control and they happen to everyone, the wise and the foolish alike. We experience the same creation that God created, we experience life and death like every other person. Eventually, we'll be forgotten, whether we're wise or foolish. While you should be wise, acquiring wisdom should not be your life's goal. Christ should be your life goal. Will you choose to invest your time and your energy to pursue Christ rather than to just making yourself wise?
