178. Depressed? Try A Snack And A Nap
1 Kings 17-19
But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness,
and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that
he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am
not better than my fathers. And as he
lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said
unto him, Arise and eat. And he
looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water
at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. And the angel of the LORD came again the
second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is
too great for thee. And he arose, and
did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty
nights unto Horeb the mount of God. 1
Kings 19:4-8
Are there days where you feel weighed down with life? Where
life just doesn't seem worth living anymore? There can be a myriad of reasons
why you end up feeling down and depressed but sometimes the most simple reasons
are overlooked. You start to think about why you feel the way you do, what or
who it's connected to. But have you eaten enough food? How much water have you
consumed? What about sleep? Did you stay up late, or get fewer than eight hours
of sleep? Sometimes there are deeper reasons for the feelings you have but the
word of God offers a practical solution at times. Are you feeling depressed? You
should try a snack, some water, and a nap, and see if that makes things better.
The practical side of life often affects the spiritual side of life and vice
versa. Sometimes a seemingly large problem has a very simple, practical fix.
God's word has the answers for even the most basic things of life. Will you go
to God's word first to find the answers you’re looking for?
