192. Seek And Love Good, Don’t Seek And Hate Evil
Amos 1-5
Seek good, and
not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with
you, as ye have spoken. Hate the
evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the
LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph. Amos 5:14-15
It's so much easier
to find mischief and to seek evil in our thought patterns, words, and actions.
It's part of the natural man, the flesh. If it wasn't there would be no need
for God to tell us not to seek evil but to seek good. To love good and hate evil.
It feels good to your flesh to feel and to be angry, resentful, bitter. It
feels good to hold a grudge and hold things over people's heads and manipulate
the people and situations around you. But you are supposed to hate evil and not
seek it out. You need to die to self and take up your cross and follow Christ
and He says to seek good and love it, to go to God and ask His help to change
and to be able to follow His plan for your life. When you follow what God says,
your life is so much better than if you go your own way.
