204. Go To God For Help, Not The World

Isaiah 31-34

Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!     Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.     Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they shall all fail together.   Isaiah 31:1-3

Why is it we seek every resource available to find answers to our problems and not God and His word? It is God who has fashioned and formed you. He knows every little, intricate, detail about who you are and how you work. He knows your body type, the health genes you have, your DNA. He knows your background, your unique personality and brain. He knows what you struggle with and why, and He has given you all the answers you need to know in His word. Do you seek Him for answers to your problems? People can only do so much to help you because they are just that, people and not God as these verses emphasize. If you acknowledge Him in all your ways, He will direct your paths. Sometimes He will direct you to go see someone else for help like a doctor when you’re sick or have a broken bone, etc. But sometimes you just need to spend more time with Him and in His word to find the answer. When you turn to the world for the answers, verse three says that the Lord will stretch out his hand and both you and the person helping you will fall and fail. It's best to turn to God for help and trust that if you need to seek further help that He'll show you what it is you need to do and where you need to go. Will you trust Him with all your heart and not lean on your own understanding?
