214. Live Selflessly, Not Selfishly

2 Kings 20-21

And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.     Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.     And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.     Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?   2 Kings 20:16-19

Are you so consumed with your own well being that you don't care about what happens to others? Even if they suffer the consequences of your actions? Are you filled with selfishness and only concerned with your peace, safety, and happiness? Do you make your decisions based on what you can gain for yourself? When we get saved, we are born again, made a new creature, given a second chance at life just as Hezekiah was. God didn't remake us and give us a new chance at life to live for ourselves. He wants you first and foremost to live for Him and His honor and glory. After that, to live to love and serve others just as He did. To live your life as though there are no consequences is reckless and selfish and is not how God wants you to live. You are to care for and give your life for others, not let them reap the consequences of your actions. Will you choose to live your life with others in mind, or just for yourself?
