223. Trust In, And Make The Lord Your Hope

Jeremiah 14-17

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.     For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.   Jeremiah 17:7-8

To trust in the Lord and to make Him your hope is to be blessed. To know how much you’ll be blessed by it, these verses use the picture of a tree. The tree is planted by waters and it's roots are spread by the river. Are you firmly planted and growing stronger in Christ? Are you daily in His word getting the spiritual food that you need? Because this tree is by the water, it doesn't shrivel up and die when the heat comes but the leaves remain green. When trials come, do you wither and fade away? Or do you abide in Christ and continue to flourish even in hard times? It says that the tree also won't stop bearing fruit even in a drought. In times when you’re struggling to think and to do what you ought, when your mind and emotions seem to overwhelm the truth, or you just don't seem to be getting as much from your time with the Lord, do Iyoustill do what's right? Do you bear fruit because you follow the truth even when you don't feel like it? It is only in trusting the Lord and making Him your hope that you can stand strong and endure through anything. Will you trust and hope in Him?
