266. Love Sacrificially

Esther 1-5

Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.     For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall ther enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy faither's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?     Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,     Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.   Esther 4:13-16

In a time of great darkness when the threat of death loomed over the heads of the Jews, there was no time to stall and to give in to fear. Esther was the people's best hope and she was willing to give her life in hopes of saving her people. Do you have that same commitment to the people around you? Are you willing to give even your life if need be to accomplish God's will? Are you willing to endure mocking and rejection so that one more person can hear the gospel? Are you willing to endure one more painful accusation or a stab in the back to reach out and love someone even when you don't think they deserve it? That is the way that Christ demonstrated for you to follow. Are you like Christ in giving of yourself for others benefit? Even if it means pain or even death for you?
