268. Prepare Your Heart To Seek, Do, And Teach

Ezra 7-10

For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.   Ezra 7:10

Ezra prepared his heart for three things that everyone should prepare their heart for. First of all, to seek the law of the Lord. Do you read and study your Bible? Do you memorize and meditate on it? Do you know the word of God? Second, to do it. Do you apply what you learn from God's word? Do you live what you learn? You can't help others if you don't live it yourself. Third, to teach others. After you've learned and applied the word of God, who are you telling about it? Who are you teaching and passing on what you've learned to? As life continues, the cycle repeats. The longer you live, the more you learn. The more you learn, the more you apply and grow. The more you grow, the more you have to pass on to others. Are you prepared for it? Is your heart ready to receive the word of God as you read it or hear it taught and preached at church or other places? Do you spend time in prayer asking God for help to learn, live, and help others? Do you ask God for help understanding His word? What are you preparing your heart for?

72. God Does All Things For Our Good

Deuteronomy 5-7 O that there were such an hear in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, and it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!    Deuteronomy 5:29 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.    Deuteronomy 6:24 God made it clear, and the children of Israel understood that all the commandments that God had given them were for their good and because God loved them.
