270. Make God’s Work A Priority

Nehemiah 6-7

And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?   Nehemiah 6:3

What work is it that God has given you to do? Do you give yourself fully to it? Even when you'd rather do something fun, do you choose to opt out if it gets in the way of what God wants you to do? Or make sure your responsibilities are covered by someone else so it doesn't get left undone while you’re gone? Any work that God gives you to do is a great work. No matter how small you think it is. Will you make God's work a priority in your life?

2 Kings 15, 2 Chronicles 26 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.     And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.   2 Chronicles 26:4-5 Do you want to prosper? So many people turn to money, jobs, and anything they can to become prosperous. But they also have a different definition of what prospering is. What do you think of as being prosperous? Is being prosperous having plenty of money? Or having lots of things? Is it in having a lot of friends or being held in high esteem by those around you? According to the Strongs Concordance, to prosper is to push forward. And the only reason to be prosperous or push forward is God. What would it take for God to make you prosperous? Luke 22, John 13 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:   But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.   Luke 22:31-32 As with Peter, so Satan desires to distract and destroy you so that you will be useless for God and eventually deny Him. The temptation is sometimes very great to deny Christ in order to avoid mocking or ridicule, or persecution of any kind. Or just not to be thought of as weird or strange.
