274. Praise God For His Blessings

Luke 1, John 1

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,     And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.     For he hat regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: For, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.     For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; And holy is his name.   Luke 1:46-49

Mary got to experience a once in a life time miracle. And while she acknowledged how blessed she was, she gave God the glory for what He did and praised His name. Where do you direct the praise for your blessings? Do you boast of your greatness or do you think you deserve the blessings God gives you? Or will you acknowledge that you are blessed but praise God for it? It is God who gives you the good things you enjoy, and it is He that deserves the praise for it.

Deuteronomy 5-7 O that there were such an hear in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, and it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!    Deuteronomy 5:29 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.    Deuteronomy 6:24 God made it clear, and the children of Israel understood that all the commandments that God had given them were for their good and because God loved them. When there are things that God convicts you of, or rules applicable to you from His word, what is your response? Do you understand that He loves you and wants only the best for you? Or do you choose to think He doesn't know what He's doing and wants to keep you from having fun or enjoying life?
