330. Study The Truth For Yourself

Acts 17

And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.     These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.   Acts 17:10-11

Good preaching is a great tool to use to learn more of God's word. We are commanded to be faithful to church in Hebrews. God has given us His word to read and access to the Father to pray to Him, and the Holy Spirit that lives inside us. But it is not enough just to read, pray, and listen. We need to study God's word and find out for ourselves what God's word says and listen to the Holy Spirit to tell us what it means. 2 Timothy tells us to study to show ourselves approved unto God that we won't be an ashamed workman and that we should rightly divide the word of truth. Are you taking the time to study the word of God and know what it says for yourself? When you hear preaching and teaching, are you always comparing it to and going back to the word of God to see if it is truth that is being said? Teachers and preachers may get it wrong sometimes. But, the word of God is infallible and you can trust what it says all the time.
