341. Show Your Faith By Your Works
Romans 1-3
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of
works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds
of the law. Is he the God of the Jews
only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify
the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through
faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Romans 3:27-31
Because salvation and a life lived for the Lord is by faith,
we cannot boast of ourselves because we have done none of the work. It is Jesus
who did all the work and extends to us the gift of salvation freely. Do you
live by faith? Do you give God all the glory for your life? And just because
life is by faith doesn't make you exempt from following the law. It is not your
good works that justify you, but it is good works that you are to do as a
follower of Christ. Do you still do what you ought so you can be a good example
and have a good testimony?
