354. Be Who God Called You To Be

1 Peter 1-5  

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:     Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.   1 Peter 2:9-10

God has chosen us for a special job. To show forth the praises of God. We don't start out as the children of God. We started out in darkness and without mercy. But, when we trust Christ as Savior, we become His child and have been called into His light to show forth His praises and have obtained mercy. We are His chosen generation, royal priesthood, holy nation, and peculiar people. With great freedom comes great responsibility. Do you live a holy life in accordance with the word of God? Are you living in such a way that the light of Christ can shine through you?

72. God Does All Things For Our Good

Deuteronomy 5-7 O that there were such an hear in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, and it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!    Deuteronomy 5:29 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.    Deuteronomy 6:24 God made it clear, and the children of Israel understood that all the commandments that God had given them were for their good and because God loved them. When there are things that God convicts you of, or rules applicable to you from His word, what is your response? Do you understand that He loves you and wants only the best for you? Or do you choose to think He doesn't know what He's doing and wants to keep you from having fun or enjoying life?
