51. God Deserves Our Best And Our First

 Leviticus 22-23

Ye shall not offer unto the LORD that which is bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall ye make any offering thereof in your land.     Leviticus 22:24

Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:     And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.                   Leviticus 23:10-11

When giving instructions about the sacrifices and feast days, God gave specifications about the condition of the offerings that were to be given. They were to be perfect, and they were to be the first of what they received. How many times when God asks you to give something, whether it's money to Him, or money or something to others, are you tempted to give your used item or leftover money and buy yourself something new, or spend your money on you first then give what's left? That's not how giving is supposed to work. We are to give to God first and then use the rest of our money for our needs and then wants. When God asks us to give to others, we should buy them the new thing, and be content with what we already have. If you only give what's leftover, it's not much of a sacrifice. When God asks you to give to Him, or to others that He lays on your heart, will you give your best?
