155. Get Wisdom And Understanding

Proverbs 4-6

Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.     Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.     Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.   Proverbs 4:5-7

Two of the most important tools for life. Wisdom and understanding. These are two things that we are instructed to obtain. When you get wisdom she will preserve you if you don't forsake her. It is so easy in a moment of fun or absent mindedness to do or say something foolish. But if you love wisdom, she will keep you. You won't be as likely to act or talk foolishly. Wisdom is the principal thing which means it is the most important thing, in the highest position. It outranks all else. Wisdom is often referred to as the application of knowledge. While you are getting wisdom, you are to also get understanding. It does no good to do or apply something when you don't understand what it is you are doing or applying. Will you heed the wise words in these verses and get wisdom and understanding?

72. God Does All Things For Our Good

Deuteronomy 5-7 O that there were such an hear in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, and it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!    Deuteronomy 5:29 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.    Deuteronomy 6:24 God made it clear, and the children of Israel understood that all the commandments that God had given them were for their good and because God loved them. When there are things that God convicts you of, or rules applicable to you from His word, what is your response? Do you understand that He loves you and wants only the best for you?
