171. Don’t Assume, Just Be A Friend
Ecclesiastes 7-12
Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the
interpretation of a thing? a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the
boldness of his face shall be changed.
Ecclesiastes 8:1
For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all
this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of
God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them. I returned, and saw under the sun, that
the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread
to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of
skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. Ecclesiastes 9:1,11
It's so easy to judge people by what they look like and the
way they appear on the outside. We think that we are smart and wise enough to
know what people are thinking and feeling. To know their intentions and what's
in their heart. Sometimes judgments are made by what happens to others. Another
external observation. The Bible says that we look on the outside but God looks
on the heart. Who you perceive others to be by their appearance or what you can
observe them doing is not always correct. To assume the intentions or motives
of others based on what you can see can be very hurtful to others especially
when you assume incorrectly. Instead of making assumptions will you take the
time to just get to know the people around you? Ask them questions? People have
plenty of critics, maybe they just need a friend.
