277. Yield Not To Temptation

Matthew 3, Mark 1, Luke 3

And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.     And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.   Mark 1:12-13

Jesus followed the Holy Spirit when He drove Him to the wilderness. Jesus not only was in the wilderness forty days, but He also endured temptation from Satan during those times. Like Jesus, there will be times where you are led into a wilderness in your life. Times where things seem never to go well and there's no one to help you through. It is in the times where you are the most vulnerable that Satan will attack with temptations. How do you respond to those trying times? Do you shrivel up and give up on life thinking there's no hope? Do you give into temptation thinking you don't have any other option? Or will you follow Christ's example and use the word of God and take that way of escape that God provides? Even when those seasons seem long, you need to just hang on a little longer. If you cling to Christ and His word He will see you through.

Deuteronomy 5-7 O that there were such an hear in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, and it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!    Deuteronomy 5:29 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.    Deuteronomy 6:24 God made it clear, and the children of Israel understood that all the commandments that God had given them were for their good and because God loved them.
