295. There Is No Limit On Forgiveness

Matthew 18

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?     Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.   Matthew 18:21-22

It can get tiring forgiving the same person over, and over, and over again. Especially if it's for the same offence. It can be tempting to pride ourselves on being forgiving and longsuffering but even the best of people have their "too far" point. We can justify unforgiveness by saying that we've forgiven them for so long and it's their fault for not changing. But Jesus gives such a high number indicating that there is no limit to forgiveness. There's no excuse not to forgive. God has forgiven all for absolutely nothing in return. Will you forgive those that wrong you knowing that Christ has done the same for you?

72. God Does All Things For Our Good

Deuteronomy 5-7 O that there were such an hear in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, and it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!    Deuteronomy 5:29 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.    Deuteronomy 6:24 God made it clear, and the children of Israel understood that all the commandments that God had given them were for their good and because God loved them. When there are things that God convicts you of, or rules applicable to you from His word, what is your response? Do you understand that He loves you and wants only the best for you?
