300. A Place Of Honor Is By Invite Only

Luke 14-15

And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,     When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;     And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.     But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.     For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.   Luke 14:7-11

Do you presume to be in high favor with your friends or those that are close to you? Do you take pride in being or thinking yourself someone's close or best friend? When in a group, what position do you take? Even among those that you’re closest to. Do you presume to be one of the highest? Does it affect how you treat the others that are there? Even though your assumptions may be correct, do you choose to elevate or leave room for others in a higher place, whether physically, or in someone's affections? It's always best to remain humble and choose a lower place in the sight of others. It's God's job to elevate you in the sight of Himself and others, not yours.
