308. Loving God And Others Is Most Important

Matthew 22, Mark 12

Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law?     Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.     This is the first and great commandment.     And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.     On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.   Matthew 22:36-40

When thinking about the laws in the Bible, they are often thought of a list of rules, or do's and don'ts. It's a lot easier to keep them all though when we remember the two greatest commandments that wrap all the others up. Two do's, not don'ts. Loving the Lord our God with everything we are and loving others as ourselves. If you love God like you ought, you won't love anything or anyone more than Him. If you love others as myself, you won't lie about them or cheat them, etc. Will you focus on loving God and others?

72. God Does All Things For Our Good

Deuteronomy 5-7 O that there were such an hear in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, and it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!    Deuteronomy 5:29 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.    Deuteronomy 6:24 God made it clear, and the children of Israel understood that all the commandments that God had given them were for their good and because God loved them. When there are things that God convicts you of, or rules applicable to you from His word, what is your response? Do you understand that He loves you and wants only the best for you?
