345. Be A People Pleaser For Good To Edification
Romans 14-16
We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of
the weak, and not to please ourselves.
Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to
edification. For even Christ pleased
not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee
fell on me. Romans 15:1-3
It can be easy to jump on the don't be a people pleaser
train. Set up boundaries and cut people out of your life if you deem them
toxic. While you shouldn't stay in abusive situations or give into every
persons demands, especially if they're manipulating you, we are to be people
pleasers. We are to be bearers of the burdens of the weak and to please others
for their good to edification. Jesus didn't please himself, but others. He gave
His life so that others can have life. He gave of Himself for our good to our
edification. You should go above and beyond in your service to others, and not
to see it as being taken advantage of, but doing it cheerfully out of a love
for God and others. Will you follow Jesus' example and please others for their
good to edification?
