362. Don’t Leave Your First Love

Revelation 1-5

Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.   Revelation 2:4

Have you left your first love? The One to whom you expressed endless amounts of gratitude and would do anything for because He loved you first? When at first salvation comes, it's hard to imagine loving anyone or anything more than Jesus. But if you are not careful to tend that relationship and to walk closely with the Lord each and every day, you will find yourself drifting. Drifting to the things you once knew. To the comforts you once held dear. Drifting to the world and little by little giving into the flesh. God is a jealous God and He wants your full attention and affection. He is against idolatry and anything that you put above Him is an idol. Will you make it a priority to stay close with your first love and to not let anything between you?

72. God Does All Things For Our Good

Deuteronomy 5-7 O that there were such an hear in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, and it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!    Deuteronomy 5:29 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.    Deuteronomy 6:24 God made it clear, and the children of Israel understood that all the commandments that God had given them were for their good and because God loved them. When there are things that God convicts you of, or rules applicable to you from His word, what is your response? Do you understand that He loves you and wants only the best for you?
