My House, My Rules

And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people: But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother, And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled. But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself. They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh. They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy. They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God. Thou shalt sanctify him theref...

God's Vessel

God's Vessel by Ruth Navis I am God's precious vessel, He's molding me of clay; To work and serve, and love, and be with Him one day. He gently forms and fashions me to make me what I ought to be, But then someone acts carelessly and breaks this work of clay. All anyone can see are the pieces on the floor; They laugh and poke their fun at me, and walk right out the door. I look to God in my brokenness and for help and mercy cry; I'm all alone, broken pieces of stone that everyone's left behind. I'm broken, bruised, and battered, but no one seems to care; Then God above looks down in love, and shows me He is there. He picks up all the pieces, he takes them one by one; He glues them back together, until His work is done. Now when people look at me, they can see all my scars. They think that they are all my fault, that I've earned them, missed the bar. So they continue to pick on me, because now I'm no longer pretty, I cry out to God helplessly, and hope ...

For This Man I Have Prayed

For This Man I Have Prayed by Ruth Navis For this man I have prayed, My hero, rock, and love. I've never been more convinced He was sent from God above. For this man I have prayed, And waited many years. But God knew he'd be worth my while, And said, "Child, give me your fears." With this man I have prayed, God's will for us to find. He called me when I would need it most And calm my anxious mind. With this man I have prayed, And cried so many tears. But we trusted God to give us strength, and grant us many years. For me this man has prayed. It always makes me cry, To know he cares, to lift me up in his prayers, I married one special guy.

The Picture Of Fall

The Picture of Fall by Ruth Navis Have you ever thought about the colors that we see in fall? While radiant and beautiful, we oft fail to recall: A colored leaf is dead and soon will fall from off the tree, A picture of the Lord above who died on Calvary. When winter comes the tree is bare, exposed to winter snow. The leaf is gone and faded, oh how God loves me so! His Father turned His back on Him and left Him all alone, and when He died they laid Him in a new tomb made of stone. When spring is here the new leaves grow all bright and crisp and green, to symbolize new life when Jesus rose day number three. So as a leaf must die, to see it's full beauty, So, beautiful and crucial was Christ's death on Calvary.

I'm Just A Common Sparrow

I'm Just A Common Sparrow by Ruth Navis I'm just a common sparrow; not much value, little worth. I'm just a common sparrow; not much purpose on this earth. I'm just a common sparrow; people like to mock and scorn, With a brain no bigger than a pea from the day that I was born. I'm just a common sparrow people kill for sport, for fun. I have no great beauty, I am just dull shades of brown. I asked: "Lord, what's my purpose? I'm not smart or beautiful. I'm so small, I'm of no use at all, I'm just mocked by all the people." He said: "I made you little sparrow. I watch you when you fall. I care not if you're beautiful or not so smart, or small. I love you little sparrow, and I care for you, you see. For while others think you're nothing at all,  You're great and special to me."
