31. Stay Busy Doing God’s Work

Exodus 4-6   Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein ; and let them not regard vain words.   Exodus 5:9   In the context this verse is in, it's talking about Pharaoh making the taskmasters add to the Hebrew children's bondage because Moses told him that God said to let His people go. But though God is not a taskmaster and He never makes us do anything, His word talks about the dangers of idleness and how it can lead to being gossips and busybodies which are two examples of using vain words. Sometimes, when it seems you are so busy and God is asking you to do so much and you don't seem to have any breaks or free time, maybe it's because God knows if you are not busy with His work that you'll be subject to speaking vain words and getting into things you shouldn't.

30. You Become Like The People You Spend The Most Time With

Exodus 1-3   And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.   Exodus 2:19   The daughters of Reuel had never met Moses before this. Yet, by the way he looked, acted, talked, etc. they could tell he was an Egyptian. When people look at you , what do they see? Can they tell by your appearance, mannerisms, and speech that you’re a child of God and that you spend your time with God and his people? Or a re you a Christian in name only? Does your life back up your  words? And who do you choose to let influence your  life? Are they pushing you  closer to God or pulling you away from Him?

29. God Always Keeps His Promises

Genesis 48-50   And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,     The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.   Genesis 48:15-16       When Israel was blessing Joseph's sons, he recounts the goodness of God and how He changed him. He refers back to the promise that he made God all those years ago when He vowed to give God a tenth of all that God gave him and make the Lord his God if God would be with him, keep him in the way that he went, give him bread to eat, and raiment to put on that he would come again to his father's house in peace. God kept His end of the deal and so did Israel. How many times do we  read a promise in scripture but then doubt God's faithfulness to keep that p...

28. Trust God To Provide

Genesis 46-47   And Pharaoh spake unto Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come unto thee:     The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.   Genesis 47:5-6   Not only did God bring Joseph's family back to him, He also provided for them through Pharaoh. When you’re in a tough spot or when you choose to follow God's will and there seems like no way to carry out what God wants you to do or no way to get out of a tough spot, do you trust God to provide for you and those around you or do you stress and worry about what you’re going to do?

27. Trust God’s Process

Genesis 43-45   Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.   Genesis 45:5   When Joseph's brothers were before him, Joseph chose not to exact revenge but to tell them what God had done for him and the purpose He had in the trials God allowed him to go through. When things get tough, what is your reaction? When you're faced with the people that cause you the most problems, do you choose to exact revenge or trust what God is doing in your life and share it with them instead?

26. Trust God’s Timing

Genesis 41-42   And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river. Genesis 41:1   Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day: Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard’s house, both me and the chief baker: And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream. And there was with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret . And it came to pass , as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged. Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his rainment , and came in unto Pharaoh. Genesis 41:9-14   And Joseph said ...

25. Choose To Trust God, No Matter What

Genesis 38-40   And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand; and he knew not ought he had , save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured . Genesis 39:3-6   Because of Joseph’s trust in God, even in a hard time , God blessed h im and everything he did. So much so that Potiphar even noticed and trusted Joseph implicitly with his house and all that he had. Do you choose to trust God no matter what you go through? Even in the hardes...

24. Stand Up For What Is Right

Genesis 35-37   And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again. Genesis 37:22   In an attempt to do what was right, Reuben suggested a “better” idea. Even though throwing Joseph into a pit was better than killing him, it still wasn’t the right thing to do. Reuben should have spoken up for Joseph and tried to persu ade them to let him go instead of trying to be nice but still kind of fit in. How many times, in an attempt to have everyone like you, have you compromised the truth? Or suggested a beter idea or thought than the bad one but it wasn’t the right thing to do? Will you choose to be bold for the truth and not change it for your comfort?

23. Look Back And Remember The Milestones Of God’s Goodness

Genesis 32-34   And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon hi thigh. Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew t hat sh rank . Genesis 32:30-32   Significant times in life are often marked with milestones. Something to look back on and tell others ot remind them of God’s working in our lives. For Jacob, it was a physical affliction to remind him that he met with God and God changed his life that day. For you, it might be a commitment or a song or even something physical. But let it serve as a reminder of all God has done for you.
